Press Release

Paris (France), Tokyo (Japan), Campos (Brasil), Dover (USA). March 29th, 2010. IELO, Mandriva, Nexedi and TioLive join forces to create the Free Cloud Alliance (FCA), an alliance of Free / Open Source Software publishers which provides 100% Open Source solutions for the fast growing market of Enterprise Cloud Computing. The Free Cloud Alliance (FCA) is the first Open Source Cloud Computing Stack which covers both Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS),  Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) with a consistent set of technologies targetted at high performance and mission critical applications.

The Free Cloud Alliance Stack consists of: NiftyName Virtual Datacenter (NVD), Block Storage Server (BS2), Xtreem Storage Server (XS2), NEO Storage Server (NS2), SLAP Cloud Engine (SCE) and TioLive OEM Platform (TOP).

Julien Ducros, CEO of IELO, said: "NiftyName Virtual Datacenter (NVD) provides solid infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) designed for high performance, data redundancy and automatic failover. Benchmark shows that NVD is 2 to 400 times faster than competing proprietary IaaS solutions. NVD can be used either with traditional Storage Area Network (SAN) or with cost efficient Block Storage Server (BS2)".

Arnaud Laprévote, CEO of Mandriva, added: "Xtreem Storage Server (XS2) completes BS2 with a Global, Secure and Redundant POSIX Filesystem which is ideal to share files over a Wide Area Network (WAN), to distribute content on a corporate Intranet or to implement Enteprise online backup. It is established on Mandriva's 10 years experience with GNU/Linux operating system distribution and it is compatible with corporate Windows networks."

Jean-Paul Smets, CEO of Nexedi, declared: "NEO Storage Server (NS2) provides a transactional alternative to BS2 and XS2 in the form of RESTful storage. It is ideal for high performance business and content management applications such as the archival of large collections of government data or for the recording of banking transactions."

Jean-Paul Smets, CEO of Nexedi, added: "SLAP Cloud Engine (SCE) coordinates the various services which form a Cloud Computing environment, optimizes resource usage and provides Cloud billing based on ERP5 open source ERP."

Jacques Honoré, VP Community of TioLive, concluded: "TioLive OEM Platform (TOP) leverages all components of the Free Could Alliance Stack to provide an Open Source Platform as a Service (PaaS) which enables the rapid development of custom Software as a Service (SaaS) for vertical markets in the field of ERP, CRM,KM, e-business and Web."
