Shanghai Free Trade Zone (China), Marcq-en-Baroeul (France), September 16, 2015. Nexedi released today the first open source lightning protection egovernment platform after studying during 9-months the business process of lightning protection in China. The platform is built on the ERP5 workflow with full customization to Chinese lightning protection business process and decision-making flow, together with modern e-business features: e-signature, document management, real-time image capturing, geo-location, mobile access. etc. ERP5 powerful traceability covers the entire life-cycle of building construction, from drawings to construction acceptance, as well as the regular check of existing buildings.
Modern government management requires strict control on supervision. Based on this vision, Hubei Lightning Protection Center decided to pioneer the first open source lightning protection business management platform and test it on real construction cases. The open source ERP5 based platform was hosted on UCloud servers in China. The test started with face-to-face training of civil servants representing each department: drawing approval department, general department and five detection offices. Each civil servant was instructed by Nexedi how to achieve with ERP5 particular tasks for lightning protection. Then real cases were picked out and processed through the platform by Hubei Lightning Protection Center staff between August 10 and August 28, 2015.
Hubei Lightning Protection Center technical supervisor summarized test results: "ERP5 lightning protection business platform well matched our sophisticated lightning protection business workflow. It perfectly combines the vertical and horizontal workflow management method. We can easily supervise the independent progress of lightning protection business process per construction project or per building, from construction supervision to completion; everything is clearly under control through the platform."
Jean-Paul Smets, Nexedi CEO, explains: "Lightning protection is critical to architecture and to all constructions. The complexity of lighting protection business process leads to exponential combinatorics of workflow states and security permissions. ERP5 is the only application framework that can be configured to handle this type complexity thanks to multidimensional taxonomies and precise security based on access rules. The open source nature of ERP5 ensures that the system can be fully audited in terms of security and quality assurance. Availability of source code eases customization and large scale deployment under government control."
The Supervisor of Wuchang District Detection Bureau adds: "The approach based on a unified web based platform solves the difficulties of resource sharing and responsibility transparency. Access rules are defined specifically for each detection bureau, every detection team and member. Newly constructed project can be managed together with existing inspection units after construction completion."
The platform is now available on-line for download: https://lab.nexedi.cn/nexedi/clp
